Google’s Interest Based Ads – Behavioral Targeting

Google is launching it’s Interest Based Ads into beta. These ads are a form of behavioral targeting ads and are being tested by limited number of selected advertisers.  At Google, they strive to serve as relevant ads as possible to the users of Internet and that’s why contextual advertising is not enough anymore. They decided to take it one step further beyond and step into the world of behavioral targeting.

Canonical – newly supported link element

Last week Google, Yahoo, and Microsoft announced support for a new link element to clean up duplicate urls on sites. The syntax is pretty simple: An ugly url such as http://www.example.com/page.html?sid=asdf314159265 can specify in the HEAD part of the document the following:

Google SearchWiki

Today I came to Google and was amazed seeing some strange icons on the search results page. I tried some of them and it looks like you can manipulate the search result like promote, remove or even add more pages to it. I guessed it should be a new feature of Google search and came to Google blog to check if they say something. And it really is, the Google SearchWiki, as I found an article “SearchWiki: make search your own“.

Advanced Google Search Operators

We all know Google is great, but it’s much greater if you know how to use its advanced search operators to explore the WWW. I make a summary of useful and popular search operators here for reference.
